Selected 10th overall in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Garrett Wilson joined the New York Jets using a pick acquired in a 2020 trade that sent Jamal Adams to the Seattle Seahawks. He made his NFL debut in Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens and quickly made an impact. In Week 2, he recorded his first two career touchdowns, finishing with eight receptions for 102 yards in a thrilling 31–30 win over the Cleveland Browns.
Wilson continued to shine throughout his rookie season. In Week 8, he posted six receptions for 115 yards in a 22–17 loss to the New England Patriots. Week 12 saw him haul in two touchdowns in a dominant 31–10 victory over the Chicago Bears. In Week 13, he had a career-high 162 receiving yards on eight catches in a close 27–22 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
By the end of his rookie campaign, Wilson had set franchise records for a rookie with 83 receptions and 1,103 receiving yards, along with four touchdowns. His impressive performance earned him a spot on the PFWA All-Rookie Team, and on February 9, 2023, he was named the Associated Press NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
In the 2023 season, Wilson played all 17 games, finishing with 95 receptions for 1,042 yards and three touchdowns. On January 9, 2024, he changed his jersey number from 17 to 5, the same number he wore in college. The number had previously belonged to punter Thomas Morstead.
Wilson continued to be a key player for the Jets in 2024. In Week 9, he delivered a standout performance against the Houston Texans. He caught nine passes for 90 yards and two touchdowns in a 21–13 victory. His efforts earned him AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Before making his mark in the NFL, Garrett Wilson turned heads while playing college football. At Ohio State, Wilson played from 2019 to 2021, and he met Tatum Talboo during that time.
Talboo made their relationship public in September 2021 and was spotted cheering for him at his college games. In November 2021, she traveled to Ann Arbor, Michigan, to watch him play. Their travels continued into 2022 when they visited Devil’s Bridge in Sedona, Arizona, in January. When the NFL Draft arrived, she stood by his side as the Jets selected him in the first round.
