Recently, some fans even went as far as to call the show out for being “staged.” More specifically, fans called out the fact that the bonus puzzle prize is often $40k, which is the lowest minimum amount that a player can win from solving the puzzle.

The way some fans put it, the “staged” aspect of the game is producers potentially meddling with things to ensure that the lower $40k amount gets picked more often than one of the higher possible amounts on the show. While $40k is not exactly pocket change, this is still something interesting to think about.

One commenter said: “Why oh why does someone always have to win $40k in the Bonus Round? I understand that $40,000 is the minimum in the bonus round, but, it seems like it’s a staged show and why do they keep giving $40,000 all the time? I wish it would be $50K or $100K or even $75K.”
Another commenter added: “I mean it’s seemingly $40k 9 times out of 10. It seems like it’s reasonable to ask why it’s so lopsided.”
