New Orleans Saints News
The New Orleans Saints are busy working things out along their roster. Meanwhile, one of their fan base’s most beloved quarterbacks just made a move to another NFC team.
Jameis Winston signs with Giants
The former Saints starter is headed to New York, to potentially start for the G-Men next season. It’s a two-year deal for Winston with the Giants.
It remains to be seen how else the Giants will navigate the QB position this offseason. With a top three pick, a rookie could be in the cards. They’re also still a possible landing spot for veteran free agent QB Aaron Rodgers, who the entire NFL is still waiting on to make a decision about his playing future.
As Pelissero explained, New York only has quarterback Tommy DeVito on the roster right now, and this deal for Winston seems to be a backup deal.
“This does not change the #Giants’ pursuit of Aaron Rodgers or alter any other possible QB routes. Just getting a veteran QB under contract in a QB room that only had Tommy DeVito coming into the day,” Garafolo wrote. — Sophie Weller
For Winston, he gets another chance in a new city and fan base. He posted about the move to New York on social media earlier on Friday evening.
Regardless, there is no doubt that the Saints and their fans will be rooting for the elite personality of Winston to succeed with New York, except if they ever meet the Saints in a game during his tenure.
