New York Giants News

The New York Giants have not been quiet in their pursuit of former Green Bay Packers and New York Jets quarterback. However, for right now, they are bringing another veteran into the room.

FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz reports that the Giants are signing Jameis Winston on a two-year, $8 million deal that could be up to $16 million with incentives.

This comes on the same day that Rodgers visited with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

However, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero, this does not mean the Giants are out on Rodgers.

As Pelissero explained, New York only has quarterback Tommy DeVito on the roster right now, and this deal for Winston seems to be a backup deal.

“This does not change the #Giants’ pursuit of Aaron Rodgers or alter any other possible QB routes. Just getting a veteran QB under contract in a QB room that only had Tommy DeVito coming into the day,” Garafolo wrote.

However, the Giants also have the No. 3 overall pick in the NFL Draft, with Miami quarterback Cam Ward and Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders expected to be the top prospects. Many mock drafts have Ward being drafted by the Titans, which would allow New York to take Sanders.

The Giants quarterback situation is far from resolved, but they are bringing in a solid veteran presence which is a good start.
