CBS Sports isn’t a fan of what the San Francisco 49ers have done with their roster so far this offseason.
Earlier this week, CBS Sports graded the job that each NFL team has sone so far this offseason and the 49ers were the only franchise that received an “F”.
CBS Sports was particularly critical of the talent that the 49ers have let get away this offseason (WR Deebo Samuel, LG Aaron Banks, LT Jaylon Moore, S Talanoa Hufanga, RB Elijah Mitchell, DE Leonard Floyd, LB Dre Greenlaw, RB Jordan Mason, DT Javon Hargrave, DT Maliek Collins, CB Charvarius Ward).
From CBS Sports: The 49ers have had the worst offseason, and the list of talent they’ve lost over the past few weeks is incredibly long. As of now, Luke Farrell is the prized signing of this class. General manager John Lynch says the 49ers have a plan and that “big things are coming our way.” I guess that means the Brock Purdy extension?
It certainly hasn’t been an encouraging offseason for the 49ers, but rosters need to be overhauled from time to time. And this was one of those times for the 49ers (though I’m not sure “overhaul” is the right word).
But despite the losses, the 49ers still have some superstars on the roster, including tight end George Kittle and running back Christian McCaffrey. Wide receiver Jauan Jennings and quarterback Brock Purdy are among the best in the league at their positions, too.
It hasn’t been a good offseason on paper for the 49ers, and it’s understandable why national analysts are down on San Fran after the team flopped last season (thanks to injuries), but I wouldn’t sleep on the 49ers in 2025. This roster still has a lot of guys that are passionate about winning.
