New York Giants News
According to CBS Sports, the New York Giants made one of the best moves of the offseason earlier this month.
CBS Sports recently detailed the top 10 moves of the offseason (so far) and they ranked New York’s free agent signing of cornerback Paulson Adebo at No. 4.
From CBS Sports: New York has big issues still unsolved, but credit where credit is due: Adebo may have been the most underrated cover man in free agency, and his knack for finding the ball should help offset some of the secondary sizzle that left with Xavier McKinney in 2024. Despite missing 10 games in his final season with the New Orleans Saints, Adebo has totaled seven picks and 28 pass breakups since 2023 alone. Ranked 16th among all cornerbacks in forced incompletions since 2021, per PFF, he could be a lockdown No. 1.
The Giants still have to figure out their quarterback situation, among other roster issues, but adding a high-level cornerback during the first wave of free agency was a great move by general manager Joe Schoen. And it definitely feels like a move that’s flying under the radar.
Adebo, a former Stanford standout who was selected in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, spent the first four seasons of his career with the New Orleans Saints. The former Cardinal defensive back totaled 254 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and 10 interceptions during his three seasons in New Orleans.
New York has struggled the last two seasons, but this roster isn’t as far away as folks think. If the Giants can get their quarterback situation right, this team can absolutely compete for a playoff spot in 2025.
Of course, “figuring out the quarterback position” might be one of the toughest tasks to accomplish in pro sports.
