A resurfaced video featuring Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan sparked debate weeks before the 2025 NFL Draft.
In the clip, McMillan states that he doesn’t watch football or film, leading some to question his preparation and commitment. However, analyst Warren Sharp quickly clarified that the footage is from two years ago, following McMillan’s freshman season.
Despite the controversy, McMillan’s recent on-field production speaks for itself. The standout receiver has delivered back-to-back seasons with over 1,300 receiving yards, positioning himself as a likely first-round selection in April’s draft. While his early comments might have raised eyebrows, his development suggests he has since embraced the necessary work to succeed at the next level.
Performance Speaks Louder Than Words

McMillan’s college career has been nothing short of impressive. In 2024, he hauled 84 receptions for 1,319 yards and eight touchdowns, following a dominant 2023 campaign with 90 catches for 1,402 yards and 10 touchdowns. His combination of size, route-running, and ball skills makes him one of the top receiving prospects in this class.
While Arizona struggled in 2024, winning only four games, McMillan remained a bright spot. The previous season, he helped lead the Wildcats to 10 wins, capping off the year with an Alamo Bowl victory over Oklahoma. His ability to perform at a high level despite team struggles highlights his potential to thrive in the NFL.
With the draft set for April 24-26 in Green Bay, teams will likely look past an old soundbite and focus on McMillan’s growth and production. The question isn’t whether he watches film now- it’s how well he translates his elite talent to the professional level. As one of the most polished receivers in this class, he has the tools to make an immediate impact as a day-one starter in the league.
