Oct 20, 2024; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA; New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers (8) and Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin (right) greet each other after their game at Acrisure Stadium.

Patience is a virtue for the Pittsburgh Steelers right now.

While they, the New York Giants, Minnesota Vikings, and retirement all wait on Aaron Rodgers’ decision, the league and their supporters sit on the edge of their seats (ok, not really).

But that wouldn’t be very smart according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media who suspects that this saga could go on for another month…

2025 NFL Draft as the deadline for Aaron Rodgers?

“Do you draft someone? That’s about a month away, so all of us would like this done sooner rather than later,” said Rapopport. [But] “I don’t get the sense that Rodgers is in any kind of hurry at all. Could it drag out all the way to the draft like it did two years ago? Maybe it could.”

The two years ago that Rapoport is referring to is in regard to when Rodgers was deciding between staying with the Green Bay Packers, retiring or choosing the New York Jets.

Going with the latter, after two years of less than optimal performance from the Gang Green, Rodgers finds himself in a similar conundrum. Only this time it seems as if he wants to play, and he’s shot his shot at the Minnesota Vkings.

But should he miss, will he suddenly turn to the Steelers, the New York Giants, or just say enough is enough and call it a career? That’s the million dollar question that no one, including Aaron Rodgers has the answer to right now.

And while he can come off across as “extra” between his darkness retreats and walks on the beach, this truly is a legacy defining moment for Rodgers. He has to either come to terms with retring after a bad experiment in New York, or dig deep and decide which option gives him the best chbace at winning another Super Bowl and cementing his legacy as a potential Mt. Rushmore quarterback.

Yet we all just want an answer. Supporters of every team, GMs, coaches and others want any sort of resolution at this point.

And that’s where the draft comes in.

If in five weeks, Rodgers hasn’t made his mind up…

The Giants, Steelers, and Vikings will likely make it for him.

We’ll see which way the wind blows him soon enough.
