The Pittsburgh Steelers have put all their chips in on Aaron Rodgers.

A choice that has been viewed as polarizing, after Rodgers’ top choice (Minnesota Vikings) said thanks but no thanks, many placed the Steelers as the front-runner for Rodgers.

And while nothing is imminent, that much was confirmed on Friday…

Aaron Rodgers Visits Steelers on Friday

Right or wrong, the Steelers view themselves as a QB away from contending and winning a Super Bowl in 2025. Their top choice was Justin Fields, but an inability to come to terms saw him depart for the New York Jets.

Insert plan B: Aaron Rodgers. A figure as polarizing as we have in the NFL, both current Steelers players, and former Steelers coaches have made their feelings well known regarding the signing of Rodgers.

But the truth is, they need each other. Never say never, but after the way things ended with Russell Wilson in 2024, seeing him return will be a long shot.

Sure, the Steeles signed Mason Rudolph, but if you think for one second that they are content with heading into the 2025 season using Rudolph, a rookie, and Skylar Thompson as their QB room, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.

As for Rodgers, while retirement has been floated as a potential possibility, he doesn’t seem like the kind of pl;layer that wants to go out with a season like 2024.

He wants to play for a contender if he plays at all, and with the Vikings saying thanks but no thanks, the Steelers and New York Giants are his top two remaining options.

Only, the Giants are more likely to be picking in the top five of the draft again next year than they are to be Aaron Rodgers’ Super Bowl swansong, and he knows that.

So now, similar to the last two weeks, we wait. Typically, players who leave a visit without a deal are pursuing other options. But nothing is typical with Aaron Rodgers.

His answer could come in a few hours, a few days, or a few weeks.

Either way, it’s a giant leap for the Steelers’ recruitment of the four-time MVP.
