One NFC team reportedly went above and beyond in their scouting of Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders, suggesting that he could be selected earlier than most expect at the 2025 NFL Draft.
Shedeur Sanders is regarded as one of the two best quarterback prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft, along with Miami’s Cam Ward. But since this is considered a weak class for QBs, it’s hard to project where exactly Ward and Sanders could land.
According to a new report, the New York Giants (owners of the No. 3 pick) did extensive homework on Deion Sanders’ son.
During the latest edition of the “40s and Free Agents” podcast, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah reported that the Giants had someone scouting Sanders at every Buffaloes game last season:
“I was told by someone, outside the Giants organization but someone inside the league, that said the Giants had a presence at every single Colorado game this year. They were following Shedeur Sanders around the entire season.
“Why is Shedeur Sanders good enough for the Giants at three, but yet not good enough for the Browns at two? That’s a common question, and I can explain it this way. With Abdul Carter being there, premium player, premium position, that’s a tougher decision when you’re choosing between those two options. Obviously, he’s off the table here for the Giants.”
This doesn’t mean the Giants will definitely take Sanders with the No. 2 pick, but it’s certainly fascinating that they reportedly spent that much time scouting a player regarded as a boom-or-bust prospect throughout the 2024 season.
We can’t forget that the Giants reached big-time for Daniel Jones in 2019, taking the Duke product sixth overall when he was projected as a late first or second-round pick. So they could very well take a chance on Shedeur Sanders at No. 3 overall if he’s available when they pick.
Which Other Teams Could Target Shedeur Sanders?

It’s hard to imagine Sanders going first overall to the Tennessee Titans, or to the Cleveland Browns at No. 2. If he’s not a top-three pick, Sanders will likely fall out of the top five since the New England Patriots (No. 4) and Jacksonville Jaguars (No. 5) are set at quarterback.
The Las Vegas Raiders (No. 6) could draft Sanders to learn behind Geno Smith for a year or two. The New York Jets (No. 7) and New Orleans Saints (No. 9) could also target Sanders if he’s available when they pick.
