Social media had all sorts of crazy reactions after a false draft rumor about Travis Hunter and fiancée Leanna Lenee surfaced on X/Twitter.
The Colorado two-way superstar and Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter are the consensus top two prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft. Both stand legitimate chances of going first overall, with Hunter likely to be gone by the time the New England Patriots pick at No. 4.
For those unfamiliar, there’s a popular satirical X account with the @WesSteinberg handle. The account claims to be a New York Giants NFL insider, but fans of the football club know that it’s nothing more than jokes and humor.
The account posted a fake story about Travis Hunter scheduling a visit with the Giants, and that the Heisman Trophy winner would bring his “family, girlfriend and even his girlfriend’s boyfriend” to see the team facility.
Of course, there’s no “boyfriend” of Leanna Lenee to speak of. She and Hunter have been engaged for a year now. But it didn’t stop social media from sharing all sorts of wild reactions to the fake Wes Steinberg story.
“After re-reading this a couple times there is no other way to take this 😂,” one fan wrote.
“Nah I’m never deleting this app,” wrote another.
“Wait. His girlfriend’s what?” asked a user.
“We don’t want him,” a fan wrote.
“Did I read that right?” asked another
“Ouch.. Thats a low blow.. Not called for!” wrote a user.
Travis Hunter Would Be The Ideal Selection For Giants
The Giants are unlikely to target a quarterback with the No. 3 pick after signing Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. So if the Tennessee Titans (No. 1 pick) and Cleveland Browns (No. 2) pass on Hunter, there’s a good possibility that he’ll go to the Giants.
New York needs more receiving help for Malik Nabers, so adding Hunter to the mix would give the Giants an explosive WR tandem for Winston and/or Wilson.
