Rodney Peete is best known as a former star quarterback at USC and played in 87 games across a 15-year career in the NFL.

This week, he is known as the fan who took a potential out away from his favorite team.

The sports personality in Los Angeles and a diehard Dodgers fan made the trip to Tokyo to watch Los Angeles open its season against the Chicago Cubs, and he made a highlight of his own.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, with the Dodgers up 6–3, third baseman Max Muncy had the chance to catch a foul ball off the bat of Ian Happ.

His efforts were stopped when Rodney Peete, who was wearing a glove, stuck his arm out and caught the ball.

Muncy was clearly pissed afterward.

However, Peete took to X to argue that the infielder didn’t have a legitimate chance to make the play.

“Cmon Cates…Muncy had no chance! 😂,” he wrote on X.

Based on the replay, it certainly looks like Muncy had a chance at it.

The Los Angeles Dodgers improved their record to 2-0 after defeating the Chicago Cubs 6-3 on Wednesday.

The game featured a ton of highlights, but none more controversial than former Eagles quarterback Rodney Peete going viral online after he nabbed a foul ball in the stands. His efforts prevented Dodgers third-baseman Max Muncy from securing the out.

Muncy was trying to track down a pop-up in the crowd and reached over the protective netting, only to have Peete snatch it from him.

Holly Robinson Peete, his wife, took to Instagram afterward and hilariously apologized to Muncy for Rodney making the play.

She also reminded the Dodgers star that her husband was a third baseman who was “thrice drafted” by MLB teams.
