Stranded On Honeymoon has come under fire as fans issued complaints over the BBC show. The programme, hosted by Davina McCall, launched on BBC One on Wednesday night but people who tuned in for the show boycotted it, just moments after it started.
The programme follows a group of single people who end up speed dating and, after just five minutes, have to pick their favourite person. Shortly after, the singletons are paired up by a matchmaker, marry one another and then are left stranded on an island and have to live with basics.
In the first episode, Sam, 30, married Hannah, 29, Helen, 35, married Abby, 32, while Moray, 28, married Mae, 30. The show has been compared to E4’s Married At First Sight, which also sees singletons being paired up by matchmakers and meeting for the first time at the altar.

But not everybody enjoyed the first episode as viewers took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts. One said: “So This is Married At First Sight, but they’ve just jumped straight to the honeymoon?#StrandedOnHoneymoonIsland.” A second went on to add: “Right, I have had enough. These reality shows need to STOP! casting big money hosts, and marketing the whole show on them, only for said hosts to be stuck to a SCREEN for the majority of the series. This is not what I signed up for!!! Stop it!”
“Likeeee we are not in an official pandemic anymore mama get them OUT and ON THE SET,” added another. Meanwhile, one angry fan said: “I was ready to gag for Davina doing her love island slo-mo style walks onto these islands.” “This looks like a cross between Married At First Sight and Love Island,” commented another.

However, some were impressed by the show, with one writing: “Stranded on honeymoon island was actually better than I anticipated it to be.” A second typed: “Was brilliant @davinamccall.”
Speaking ahead of the show airing, Davina said: “The thing I love about this show, is that they arrive on Honeymoon Island with no idea who they are going to marry. Our couples start with a speed dating session, they then pick their favourites, but they don’t know who our relationship experts have chosen for them.
“So, it’s the surprise of turning up to the wedding not knowing who they’re going to marry. It’s actually quite sweet when you see the joy on someone’s face when the person at the altar is the person they were hoping for. Then they go to their new beach home for three weeks, and it’s interesting watching them and seeing how they handle that situation and what they expect from their partner.”

Davina continued: “And then on top of all of that, it gets really complicated when we start doing Couples Cove. Everybody starts socialising together and then suddenly maybe you’re looking at other options you met at speed dating, it’s carnage. Lots of drama to come!”
An official synopsis of the show reads: “Stranded on six remote, tropical beaches, these six newly formed couples must communicate and collaborate to get by, with nowhere to run when the going gets tough.”
Stranded On Honeymoon Island is available to watch on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
