Hollywood A-lister, Catherine Zeta-Jones, has been accused of making a ‘really inappropriate’ comment about a young fan, who asked for her autograph.

The Welsh actress, 55, has amassed a throng of young followers since starring in the new series of Netflix’s smash hit, Wednesday, in which she plays Morticia Adams.

Talking about her new fan base while on the Late Night show with Seth Myers on Friday (September 5), Catherine revealed a 12-year-old boy had come up to her while she was playing golf with her husband, Michal Douglas, 80. Describing the boy as “really cute”, the Darling Buds of May star, sporting a black lace mini dress and sheer tights, said: “‘I was practicing, and this really cute 12-year-old boy came up and asking for my autograph, and it was like really cute, and then I went: ‘Haha. When I’m 70 this cute little boy will be like 33.”‘

The video quickly went viral, with some viewers left gobsmacked by the comments, while others defending them as just ‘banter’.

After she made the remark, host, Seth, asked: “Now can Michael tell when you’re doing math in your head like that?” Catherine replied: “Yeah, he usually thinks I’m wondering what club to pick, and I’m not. I’m going, ‘at that time I’m sure it’ll be fine.”‘

Seth joked: “That’s good. As long as you know not to give them your number when they’re 12.”

While some of Catherine’s fans thought she was joking with her comment and praised her for her anecdote, others were not impressed with her story.

One took to TikTok saying: “That twelve y/o boy comment was frickin’ wild” as another said: “That 12-year-old what nowwww.” A third responded: “So, am I giving her a break because I like her, or is this as creepy as it sounds?” And someone else replied: “It’s creepy. I’m not liking the ‘Oh, he’ll be 30 by that time’ I don’t think it was appropriate.”

Meanwhile, a fifth referenced the star’s marriage to Hollywood royalty, Michael, saying: “Listen, I know she is married to a much older man, but she was one whole adult when she made that decision. Thinking and speaking about a literal child in this manner is unacceptable and I am absolutely appalled that she thought this would be a cute story to share with the world. Girl, just stop.”

Last month, Catherine celebrated her 25th wedding anniversary with husband Michael, as she put critics in their place, who doubted their relationship.

We’ve been married 25 years, it’s something to celebrate. And they said it would never last!” she told The Sun.

The pair raised eyebrows due to their 25-year age gap when they got hitched at a swanky ceremony at the five-star New York Hotel in 2000.

However, the smitten couple, who are parents to Dylan, 25, and Carys, 22, seem to have had the last laugh, with Catherine describing their marriage as full of “love and fun”.
