Coronation Street spoilers for next week have teased big moments including a possible engagement(Image: ITV)
There’s some really big moments ahead on Coronation Street next week, with a proposal planned once more and the arrival of a mystery new character. The main plot of the week is mysterious newcomer Tia Wardley being identified, as she shows up in Weatherfield to track down Lisa Swain
Fans know that Tia was mentioned by Logan Radcliffe recently in a conversation with Carla Connor, and soon the name comes up again. It’s thought she is somehow linked to Lisa’s late wife Becky Swain’s death years earlier but it’s not been made clear.
Carla had asked for answers on whether Becky was a corrupt officer, with Lisa keen to know what was happening with her before her tragic death. Tia was mentioned, but Carla couldn’t find anything on her – but next week Lisa’s colleague Kit Green does some digging of his own.
Prior to this, Carla is ready to propose to partner Lisa after her failed attempt earlier this month. This time she gets stepdaughter Betsy Swain in on things, telling her she’d like to marry Lisa but only with Betsy’s permission.

New spoilers confirm that Betsy gives Carla her blessing, telling her she think it’s a great idea for Carla to pop the question and marry Lisa. Carla decorates the garden, preparing to pop the question as she leads an unsuspecting Lisa outside.
But it seems it doesn’t go to plan again, as later on Lisa finds out from Betsy that Carla’s attempts were botched. Whether this is about the previous attempt or the garden proposal next week isn’t really clarified, but given the next episode sees Lisa sharing her own plans, it could well mean Monday’s episode ends with no proposal.
On the Wednesday however, it could be all systems go as it’s teased an engagement could finally happen. Lisa tells Betsy her “plans”, possibly a proposal, after finding out about Carla’s attempt.
Later in the week the pair throw a dinner party at the Bistro – so does this mean they are celebrating and are finally going to say ‘I do’? Amid this, Lisa is busy at work when she finds out from Kit that Logan’s uncle has been brought in for questioning.

Kit’s intrigued when Lisa mentions Tia, and how Logan had given her a dead-end lead with the name. But why is Kit taken aback? He ends up calling the prison only to find out Logan has been segregated from prisoners, and possibly visits, for fighting after Carla’s visit. This appears to confirm Logan wasn’t murdered as predicted weeks earlier.
Kit does some digging, but as he looks up Logan Radcliffe and Tia Wardley on the computer, will he make a break through? Something happens, because at the end of the week when Lisa and Carla are in the Bistro with Betsy and Ryan, Tia shows up and introduces herself.
Pictures show the moment Kit and Lisa are left stunned when Tia walks over and interrupts Lisa and Carla’s dinner, telling Lisa she’s the ‘Tia’ they’ve both been looking for. But what does Tia have to say, and will this be what leaves Lisa utterly reeling as shown in the new trailer for the show?

It follows DI Costello leaving Kit suspicious once more with his chat with Lisa about her plans that evening. Also at the dinner party, there’s the return of Evelyn Plummer who invites herself along after bumping into Roy Cropper at the hospital.
As for Betsy, sparks fly for her and Dylan Wilson – amid the trailer teasing danger ahead for her in a car stunt. Another plot explored further next week is Theo Silverton’s physical abuse towards boyfriend Todd Grimshaw.
With Theo continuing to lash out verbally at Todd, as well as manipulating him and trying to control him, a trailer confirmed things would turn “physical” in upcoming scenes.
Spoilers for next week reveal Todd promises Theo he won’t see Billy anymore as requested by the latter. But when Theo’s mediation session with ex-wife Danielle sees Noah brought along, the meeting descends into a slanging match.

When Theo returns home and realises Todd is with Billy, he loses it and reaches for a bottle of brandy. Later in the week Todd is shaken by what happens with Theo at home, and soon Sarah Platt realises Todd is suffering.
Theo finds out Todd is with Sarah and once again loses it, this time lashing out at Billy and threatening him. It seems Theo is eager to stop this behaviour though as he later confides in Billy that he’s going to see a therapist in the hope he can sort his head out.
Todd’s taken aback to hear Theo is planning on attending therapy, but elsewhere Theo admits to Gary Windass that he couldn’t bring himself to go. Also next week Asha Alahan sparks concern amid her turmoil, as she reveals that she’s off to the funeral of a young lad who died in a cycling accident and whose life she failed to save.
Elsewhere, Debbie Webster is encouraged to attend sessions with a dementia choir and she’s left excited about it. Debbie addresses the group, telling them they need to up their game and she’s just the woman to help them.

Also next week, Tracy Barlow continues to blackmail Carl Webster amid him dragging Brody and Dylan into his schemes. But when the teens break into a car they are caught by James Bailey.
James is left annoyed when Dee-Dee asks him to mind Laila so she can go on a date with Ollie. Finally next week, Christina Boyd’s real intentions for George Shuttleworth could be exposed.
As Jenny Connor hides her feelings for George, he’s too busy flirting with Christina. Glenda Shuttleworth warns her brother to tread carefully where Christina’s concerned as she’s not to be trusted.
When she also tells him Jenny fancies him, George laughs it off. Towards the end of the week Christina heads for a drink after Dom’s funeral, with George admitting his feelings for her.
Christina soon admits she has feelings for him too, but as she tries to pay, her card is declined and she bursts into tears. So is she after George’s money?
