There’s a moving moment on Coronation Street next week as Carla Connor has a gesture for stepdaughter Betsy Swain amid her plans to propose to Lisa Swain on the ITV soap
There’s an emotional admission ahead that leaves Carla Connor visibly astounded on Coronation Street next week.
A gesture made to her stepdaughter Betsy Swain initially leaves her caught off guard, before a realisation leads to moving scenes for the pair. As Carla prepares to propose to her partner Lisa Swain, she decides she wants the blessing of Lisa’s daughter Betsy.
As Carla nervously asks Betsy for an important chat, the latter initially fears she’s done something wrong. But soon she’s left shocked and teary eyed when Carla confesses she wants to marry her mum.
An emotional Betsy asks Carla if she loves her mum, and if she wants to be with her forever, leading to a sweet admission by Carla. Carla tells Betsy: “I couldn’t imagine life without her.”

Carla has just questioned whether her idea is “the worst” Betsy has ever heard, with Betsy stunned to see Carla wants her blessing before taking things any further. Betsy then throws a curveball, by asking Carla how she would feel if she said no to asking Lisa.
Flustered, Carla fears Betsy isn’t ready for such a big step and she tells her she’d “have to think about it” obviously wanting to consider the teen’s feelings. But Betsy immediately interjects, making it clear she’s all for it.
She shouts out: “Carla… like I would say no!” As Carla realises Betsy was messing around, she says: “Oh, what?” before grinning as she learns she has Betsy’s blessing.
Betsy adds: “This is the happiest I’ve seen her in a long time. You have my blessing.” With that, the joyous pair launch themselves into a cuddle to celebrate, proving just how close their bond has grown over the past months.

But will Carla’s proposal happen? It seems there’s another hiccup on the way, leading to Betsy telling her mum what Carla is planning and that it’s not worked out.
A spoiler teases Lisa is very much keen for Carla to propose, and she herself has her own hopes for them to get engaged. Lisa tells her daughter about her own plans for something, not specified, while it’s clear she wants Carla to go ahead.
So what will happen and will the pair finally be planning for a Swarla wedding? Fans are certainly hoping so, and hoping that by the end of the week there will be some happy news.
Viewers will have to tune in all next week to find out what happens, amid a new twist for Lisa involving Tia Wardley.
