Dermot O’Leary was left red-faced during an interview with Belinda Carlisle after her performance at the huge BBC Radio 2 in the Park event in Chelmsford
Dermot O’Leary made an awkward presenting blunder while chatting with Belinda Carlisle following her Radio 2 in the Park performance. The presenter was backstage with Sara Cox when they discussed the singer’s fabulous performance at Hylands Park in Chelmsford.
But after spotting a satirical t-shirt from a band member, Dermot quickly called him over for a chat. “Come over here I have to see that,” Dermot said.
“Come here that has to be on television,” he went on. Gleefully reading the black t-shirt with white writing, Dermot beamed: “Oooh Hendon is a place on Earth.”
“For anyone watching from a certain borough of London, ooh Hendon is a place on earth,” Dermot repeated.

“It’s just stole the show,” he added, but was quickly interrupted to be told it was actually for its namesake in Sunderland.
Laughing at his mistake, Dermot said: “Oh, is that Sunderland? Oh, well done.” Continuing to laugh off his error, Dermot wished the band well and quickly turned back to Belinda where Sara had continued the interview.
“How was the crowd? It sounded like they were all having a good singalong,” Sara quickly said to move away from the mishap.
Belinda joked that after a while they “all looked like ants”. “I think they were singing along and they were into it,” she added as she said she finds it easier playing big venues like this.

It came after Jessie J gave an emotional message on her return to the stage following her cancer treatment. Jessie, 37, announced in June that she’d been diagnosed with “early” breast cancer and later revealed that she had surgery following the diagnosis.
She then shared last month that she was needing to delay her tour. She told fans at the time that she needed to have a second operation by the end of this year.
Now, speaking to the Essex crowd about her diagnosis, the Price Tag singer said: “I had breast cancer surgery 11 weeks ago today and the last show I did I had no idea what was gonna happen. And I’m still very much in the recovery process.”
Sh went on: “I’m just so grateful to be here. You have no idea how grateful I am to see so many of you singing along after all these years. It truly feels like I’m a little kid still doing what I love.”
And she added how the occasion as made even more special as her son Sky, two, was there watching on. “Another special thing that’s happening today is that my son is seeing me sing on stage for the first time.”
Speaking to him, she said: “Hi Sky. Hi my baby. Love you.”
