Destination X winner revealed as Judith after nail-biting BBC finale

Judith was revealed as Destination X’s very first winner
BBC One’s Destination X has revealed its first-ever winner after tonight’s tense final. The last episode in the hit series saw the last remaining contestants, Saskia, Josh and Judith, compete in one last round of challenges for the chance to win the £100,000 jackpot.
After a month on the Destination X bus, the 13 contestants were whittled down to just three finalists by tonight’s last episode. The remaining stars’ memories were put to the test as old clues resurfaced for the first challenge.
Josh had the advantage after the first task, with the 26-year-old pilot receiving three golden tickets while Saskia had one and Judith won none. They were revealed to be in Rome – and challenged with finding host Rob Brydon in one final location within the Italian city. It comes after Rob Brydon’s catastrophic Destination X blunder almost ruined whole competition.

While the golden tickets could be used to unlock more clues, after a nail-biting race to the final destination it was ultimately Judith who was first to find Rob Brydon at the Spanish Steps.
“Oh my God,” she said, bursting into tears. “I feel like it’s been so hard. Oh my God, this is a lot. I literally can’t believe it. I literally won Destination X.
“Going from having zero golden tickets to winning – I think Josh and Saskia’s faces definitely showed. They were so shocked.”
Unfortunately for Josh, he was just 30 seconds behind Judith while Saskia was two minutes and 25 seconds later.
“I was shocked to be honest,” Josh said. “I should have done much better in this so I was punching myself. Fair play to Judith – she’s a deserving winner. We’ve all been through this experience together and I’ve got a lot of respect for her.”
Saskia added: “Mixed emotions. when I finally saw Rob, immediately I saw Josh and was like, ‘he’s won,’ but then I also saw Judith and Rob told me Judith had won. Plot twist! Underdog who? Judith?
“I couldn’t believe it but fair play. I don’t think anybody expected it and I think that’s the best story of all.”
The three finalists were then joined by former contestants Darren, James and Dawn – who returned to help them with their challenges – for a celebratory drink. However, Rob then revealed that the contestants were given huge clues to the final destination in the very first episode.
There was a warning on the airport wall in their first episode which read: “This staircase has 135 steps. Please do not use except in an emergency.” It was then translated into Spanish underneath.
Meanwhile in their first challenge, there was a picture of a flamenco dancer in front of a staircase.
