It was the mother of all reunions in tonight’s EastEnders as mother and daughter Kat Moon and Zoe Slater finally reunited for the first time in two decades. Now – the BBC soap have confirmed a dramatic fallout after the ‘cinematic’ cliff hanger that left fans with chills.

Fans have been waiting months for the two to reunite, ever since Zoe made her shock return back in June. Stacey and Alfie had been keeping the secret from Kat and the rest of the Slaters – but last week, everything came crashing down when Tommy heard a drunken voicemail from Alfie revealing all.

After an argument with Kat, Tommy ran away from home and Alfie confessed all to Kat. What the couple didn’t know – was that Tommy had gone to meet his estranged sister, Zoe. And tonight – he brought her back to the Square in jaw dropping scenes.

Viewers had to wait until right at the end of the episode for the reunion, which had a nod to Kat and Zoe’s iconic “you’re not my mother” scene, which aired in 2001.

Kat was left distraught when she thought Tommy had gone missing – but frantically ran out in the rain when she received a text saying he was outside. She was overjoyed when he stepped out the black cab – but nothing could prepare her for what came next.

“Mum, I’ve got you a present!” he screamed – as Zoe made her dramatic exit from the cab. Kat couldn’t believe her eyes – as she broke down in tears while saying her name.

Zoe stared blankly at her mother, in the exact spot where their iconic scene happened over two decades ago, and the programme came to a dramatic end.

Fans on X, formerly known as Twitter were overjoyed with the ‘cinematic’ scenes – and if you don’t want to wait until tomorrow to know what happens – the spoilers have you sorted.

It’s been confirmed that tomorrow, Kat is desperate to speak with Zoe but with so much history between the two, with Zoe very different to the girl that left Walford, things are far from smooth sailing for the pair…

Elsewhere, the pair teased what fans could expect on an episode of last week’s The One Show, as Michelle Ryan, who plays Zoe, said: “Zoe is at the lowest point that we’ve ever known her to be. Disappeared 20 years ago, and we’re seeing that she’s struggled a lot. So, she’s desperate, she comes back, and even despite herself, she knows that she needs her family.

“And I think that’s where Kat is such a huge part. The mother-daughter dynamic is the best thing that you can play,” Michelle continued.

“But we still play it in a way as sisters, because we grew up as sisters,” Jessie added. “Well, the characters grew up as sisters, but there are elements of, ‘I am your mother!’” she laughed. “But that’s there, that’s sort of underlying.” The duo later confirmed “complete carnage” to come, and we can’t wait…

Fans were left gobsmacked at the reunion they’d been waiting years for, with one writing: “Kat and Zoe reuniting was everything omgggg!!” exclaimed one. “I’ve been waiting fir this moment for ages and it’s finally happened!”

“EASTENDERS WAS SO GOOD, also iconic scenery with Kat and Zoe reuniting!” penned a second, while a third said: “Tonight’s #EastEnders can only be described as cinema. Tarantino who?”

“That episode could have been a Christmas day episode – between Zoe’s return, Patrick and Yolande’s wedding and launching the new set its perfect for casual viewers and those who used to watch over 20 years ago,” said a third.

“OBSESSED with the camera work and lighting in tonight’s episode too. This scene could’ve been taken from any feature length movie. INSTANT CHILLS!” another exclaimed.
