The widow of Sir Bruce Forsyth marked the 8th anniversary of his death this week by laying flowers at his favourite golf course.

Lady Wilnelia Forsyth posted on Instagram about her day and received dozens of heartfelt responses. She told how TV legend Bruce’s “spirit, his laughter, and his kindness remain alive in our hearts.” Speaking on Instagram on Monday, 67-year-old Wilnelia wrote: “Today marks 8 years since Bruce left us. I will be spending the day with my family and laying his favourite flowers at the golf course, a place he loved so much.

“Though he is no longer with us, his spirit, his laughter, and his kindness remain alive in our hearts. We remember him not with sorrow, but with gratitude for the wonderful life and love we shared. Bruce, you are forever missed, forever loved, and forever part of us.” It comes after Wilnelia opened up about the possibility of finding love eight years after Sir Bruce’s death.

Writing underneath the post, Bruce’s daughter Julie wrote: “Miss him every day. Beautifully said Winnie. He’ll always be a part of us.” Others also posted messages of how they missed Sir Bruce and had fond memories of him on screen.

Wilnelia may well have been referring to the Wentworth Golf Club in Surrey. She and Bruce had a home situated directly adjacent to the golf course, specifically on the Wentworth Estate, and Bruce used to regularly play a round there with pals.

Paying tribute to Sir Bruce on Loose Women last year, Wilnelia said: “It’s remarkable the impact he did have for so, so many years in the ‘Biz’ that he called show. He loved it so much. It was his life. It became all of your lives. Lady Wilnelia recently opened up to the Mirror about her life.

Asked about the prospect of falling in love again, the 67-year-old nodded enthusiastically as she told the Mirror, “’I’ve no idea what is in the future for me. But I am really happy.”

Sir Bruce died in August 2017 at the age of 89 due to bronchial pneumonia. But before his death, he promised his wife that he would always be around. Now, the sight of a rainbow makes Wilnelia smile.

Speaking previously, she said: “I remember saying to him, ‘But Bruce, how will I know what to do when you’re not here? I can’t even work the TV remote without you!’ He turned to me and said, ‘Just look for the rainbow, my darling’.

“Now his children send me pictures of rainbows from wherever they are and it’s really just this wonderful feeling.” Bruce and Wilnelia married in 1983, just three years after they met in London as judges during the Miss World contest.

Eight years after his death, Wilnelia still talks to her late husband. “But I still talk to Bruce in my head, often at night. He was always so loving and such a gentleman. Even until the end he was keeping his sense of humour,” she previously said. Sir Bruce’s ashes were buried under the stage at the iconic London Palladium, the place where his career first took off.

His show business career began when he was aged just 14. He became Britain’s best-paid TV star, famous for hosting game shows like The Generation Game, Play Your Cards Right and The Price is Right.

Sir Bruce was also the original Strictly host alongside Tess Daly from 2004 to 2014. and had 75 years in show business. At the time of his death, Tess Daly said she was heartbroken. In her tribute, she said: “From the moment we met, Bruce and I did nothing but laugh our way through a decade of working together on Strictly Come Dancing and I will never forget his generosity, his brilliant sense of humour and his drive to entertain the audiences he so loved.”
