Emotions were running high for Coronation Street legend Helen Flanagan as she tried to hold back her tears when she spoke about her relationship split from her fiance Scott Sinclair
Former Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan was fighting back tears as she spoke candidly about her relationship on ITV’s Loose Women.
The 34-year-old appeared on the ITV programme to discuss her career on the cobbles as she first appeared on the famous soap at the age of 9. Talking to Kaye Adams and her former Coronation Street co-stars Sally Dynevor, Sue Cleaver and Denise Welch, the star explained that she could hardly remember her first day on set.
The conversation soon turned to Helen’s split from footballer Scott Sinclair as the women dug deeper into her personal life. But the fan favourite was clearly upset as she spoke about her past turmoil and how the relationship was covered in the press.
Discussing mental health Denise said: “I just know that you really struggled- could you just take us through because you had a breakdown, a real psychotic breakdown.” Fighting back tears, Helen replied: “Gosh, I didn’t think I would get so emotional today!”

She continued: “I think it was just sometimes when I see the headlines it could just be really triggering. I just think what it was – I didn’t really want to talk about it and I think the reason why I spoke about it was because I just started to do a six-month theatre tour.”
The star said due to her work commitments she felt obliged to address what was going on in her personal life at the time. The mum of three also told the women that she believed she would be with Scott forever.
She said: “I was with my ex Scott since I was 19 and he was like my world. I always thought we were going to be together, always.”

Helen, who will be appearing in the new series of Celebs Go Dating recently spoke about her relationship with Scott in a recent interview with Manchester Evening News. She said: “I bet he’ll be a better boyfriend to the next girl after me. I was perfect!
“The one thing I miss about being with my ex is not being able to leave every morning to go to the gym or out for a run. I live in the middle of nowhere and could go for nice runs or bike rides, and that’s what I really miss. Those little things.”
