Lorraine viewers weren’t best pleased on Wednesday morning as Michael Gove joined the ITV daytime show to speak about Donald Trump’s state visit to the UK
Lorraine viewers weren’t best pleased today, as she had former Conservative MP and journalist Michael Gove on the sofa.
Michael joined Lorraine to talk about all the political on goings, including Donald Trump’s state visit to the UK.
The pair wasted no time in discussing their thoughts on the royal family. Lorraine began: “He’s going to be love bombed by the royal family isn’t he. He’s going to have his tummy tickled. He will love this.”
Gove agreed: “The royal family know exactly what to do. There have been lots of state visits in the past, but as Trump himself acknowledged, there’s never been someone who’s had two state visits.

“Certainly never someone who’s had a state visit for the Queen and the King. But the whole Buckingham Palace machine clicks into gear for this,” he said.
“If there’s ever been one love affair that Donald Trump has had where he’s been completely faithful, it’s with the Royal Family,” Gove claimed.
Gove, who has interviewed Trump in the past told Lorraine that the POTUS is “not like any other human being” that he’s ever encountered.
“He’s redder, his skin is more orange, his hair is more golden,” he went on to explain.

Reflecting on his experience in interviewing Trump, Gove recalled: “When I came in with a journalist from another newspaper, he looked at us both and said who are these two handsome guys?” Gove laughed, claiming he was trying to butter them up.
However, viewers weren’t best pleased with the segment with the controversial politician. Gove has been caught in a number of controversies throughout the years, including coming under fire when he mimicked a Scouse accent while talking about the cost of living crisis in 2022.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter one fan penned: “Michael Gove is going to be on Lorraine. What crazy, Alice in Wonderland rabbit hole did I just fall down? I don’t do drugs, but it feels like it this morning!”
Another fuming viewer simply penned: “Oh, * off, Gove!”
Asked by Lorraine if he has any advice for Prime Minister Keir Starmer ahead of the event, Gove said: “I’m afraid you’ve just got to accept that you are not the star, you are a supporting actor.
“If Donald Trump is around, he is the guy with main character action and you have got to accept that. It may be undignified for any country to accept that but I’m sure Starmer will be thinking, ‘jobs, jobs, jobs.’”
Elsewhere, Gove said he didn’t think the death of the Tory party was a possibility, saying that he believes they would bounce back. “But there’s no denying it’s a difficult time.”
