Sharing the news in a promo video for the new season of American Idol, Jelly Roll quickly reconnects with host Ryan Seacrest when he lifts him up. Literally lifting Seacrest up, the two shared a hug before Jelly Roll broke the big news. “I’m American Idol’s artist in residence!” He added, “I feel like I’m giving them the energy they need. I’m uplifting and trying to get ’em going.”

As for Seacrest, he appeared to love the idea of Jelly Roll joining the American Idol team if the singer continued to give helicopter rides. “I like it. It feels good when you helicopter me. I need you every day.”

Jelly Roll Not The Only New Person Joining ‘American Idol’

With Jelly Roll holding a semi-permanent home on American Idol, he will join Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and Carrie Underwood. Although Katy Perry spent years on the show, the singer decided to step away to focus more on her own career. Needing to find a replacement, the producer moved quickly, narrowing the search down to just a few people.
