While Nashville represents the home of country music, the city apparently never hosted a professional rodeo. Although a little confusing, on May 29, the Music City’s first Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association event will kick off. Offering fans a plethora of events including roping broncos and barrel racing, Down Home entertainment group teamed up with Humes Rodeo and Skydance Media to entertain the crowd with stellar performances from Tim McGraw, Jelly Roll, and even Reba McEntire.
Running from May 29 to the 31st, the opening night featured Reba taking the stage. The next two days have Jelly Roll performing and McGraw will close out the event on the 31st. Releasing a statement about the event, the organizers promised “each day will showcase 7 thrilling rodeo events from bull riding to barrel racing, team roping to broncs, featuring the world’s best cowboys and cowgirls going head-to-head for over $200,000.00 in prize money. Fans will enjoy the full pageantry of rodeo with additional family-friendly activities like mutton bustin’, clowns and Rodeo Queens, before culminating each night in a headlining arena concert.”
Jelly Roll Thrilled To Be Part Of The “History-Making Event”
Thrilled about performing at the professional rodeo in Nashville, Jelly Roll called the moment a “history-making event.” He added, “I have vivid memories when it was announced in Nashville that we were getting a hockey team with the Predators, or a football team with the Titans… and I watched Bridgestone Arena be built from the ground up. Headlining Music City Rodeo in my hometown as a part of the first rodeo brought to town feels like the same type of milestone.”
Besides releasing his own statement about the upcoming rodeo, McGraw shared his excitement about bringing the magic of the rodeo to Nashville. And for Reba, she grew up with rodeos. “It’s no secret that rodeo is in my blood, and I’m thrilled to be a part of starting a new Nashville tradition,” added McEntire. “Country music and rodeo coming together in Music City, what a perfect combination…I just knew I had to be part of it.”
While the event is just a few months away, tickets go on sale Friday, March 7th at 10:00 a.m. CT. On Wednesday, March 5th, VIP packages and pre-sale tickets will be available to purchase. Given the popularity of the event, a portion of the proceeds are expected to go to Nashville’s Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital to help patients and their families through difficult times.
