Stephen Flynn, SNP leader for Westminster, appeared on the ITV talk show but the live audience was left disagreeing with him following a comment about the Euros

Loose Women completed their series of pre-election interviews on Wednesday (July 3) as they welcomed Stephen Flynn, SNP leader for Westminster, to talk about his views on the general election.

Speaking to today’s panelists, including Kaye Adams, Corrie’s Sally Dynevor, Janet Street-Porter, and Denise Welch, Flynn explained how as a politician, he doesn’t want to be too confident but hopes to be re-elected.

“You never know what the public are going to do”, he said. “But if you have got confidence in your message…”. He also expressed how he has a young family and still has a mortgage and nursery fees to pay despite if he is elected or looses his seat.

He added: “It’s a big decision for the public, who they want to represent them, and who they want to give that privilege to.”

Following the talk of politics, the conversation soon turned to football as England take on Switzerland in their quarter-final clash on Saturday.

Janet said: “I’ve got to ask you one question about football”, as Flynn jokingly chimed in: “Don’t do it, don’t do it.”

She added: “You’re a member of the tartan army are you going to root for England on Saturday, yes or no?”

Flynn squints his eyes and laughs as the live audience cheers before he explains: “So I don’t think politicians are honest enough all of the time, so no I’m not going to root for England.”

The audience booed before Janet swiped back: “But I’m half Welsh and I’ve managed to root for England.”

Flynn added: “Yeah, I can’t bring myself as a big Scotland fan to do that I’m afraid. “
