Loose Women’s Ruth Langsford has revealed she was left struggling with her smart television over the weekend while trying to watch Strictly Come Dancing, which resulted in her calling son Jack for help
Loose Women’s Ruth Langsford revealed she was left struggling with her smart television over the weekend.
The panellists were discussing the news that Ceefax would be celebrating its would-be 50th anniversary, before the conversation turned to smart televisions and TVs.
This prompted Ruth, 64, to reveal her struggle with her smart TV over the weekend, saying: “Mine actually went off, horror, went to turn on to watch Strictly and it said: ‘You are currently not connected to something box.’
“I ended up having to phone Jack, who was out and not best pleased as you can imagine – had to get him to talk me through to go up to the other box by our loft.

“Turn it on and off, wait five minutes, wait for green light, I was like: ‘Good Lord! Can’t I just have this!’” she added, as she held up a regular remote controller to her laughing co-stars and the live audience.
Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers were quick to share their thoughts on Ceefax and the advancement of televisions nowadays. One person said: “Remote. I remember we used to have to get up, walk over to the TV and physically turn the channel over and then there was the VCR with a remote on a cord #LooseWomen.” (sic)
Elsewhere, a different account put: “#loosewomen who would miss teletext?? We now have the internet!” (sic) While another show watcher added: “#LooseWomen I’m 48 and remember ceefax & teletext very well… I remember booking holidays on teletext! Also the games & puzzles you could play on there. How can Brenda not remember (laughing emoji).” (sic)
It comes as Ruth showed off her glam makeover over the weekend. The 64-year-old Loose Women star has maintained a dignified silence since it was announced she and GB News host Eamonn Holmes, who had been together since 1996, would be parting ways.

Ruth and Eamonn, who tied the knot in 2010 and share son Jack, 22, were thought to have one of the safest marriages in showbiz, and the couple stunned fans when they confirmed they would be divorcing back in May.
While Ruth has refused to comment on the end of her relationship, Eamonn has spoken candidly about his divorce, and at The Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC) Awards in June, he shared his feelings following the split.
“I’m not okay. This is not a good time at all,” he told The Mirror. “It’s too early to say, but I hope we can still be friends.”
In recent posts on Instagram, Ruth has revealed the results of her incredible post-divorce makeover and showed fans she has ripped out the old stairlift from their lavish £3.5 million home in Surrey after Eamonn moved out.
