Morgan Wallen has seen some major career milestones this year. For instance, Billboard released its list of the Top 200 Albums of the 21st Century in January. Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album topped the list after spending more than 100 weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 Albums chart and topping it for 10 weeks. More recently, his album One Thing At a Time has ushered in another milestone and helped Wallen break a record previously held by Garth Brooks.

Released in March 2023, One Thing at a Time has been a smash hit for Wallen. As of this week, it topped the Billboard Top Country Albums chart for 75 nonconsecutive weeks. That gives the “Sand in My Boots” singer a total of 174 weeks at the top of the country albums survey. Until now, he was tied with Brooks at 173 weeks.

174 weeks is more than three years. Spending that much time at the top of the albums chart would be impressive for any artist. However, in Wallen’s case it’s a jaw-dropping feat. He achieved the goal in three studio albums–If I Know Me (2018), Dangerous: The Double Album (2021), and One Thing at a Time (2023)–over the course of seven years.

Brooks spent 173 weeks at the top of the country albums chart, but it took him much longer to achieve it. His sophomore album No Fences (1990) was his first to top the chart. Since then, he has launched nine more studio albums, two compilations, a live album, and four boxed sets to the top. In short, it took Brooks 35 years and 17 releases to do what Wallen did since 2018.

Morgan Wallen Will Likely Widen the Gap Later This Year

Morgan Wallen will likely add to his time at the top of the country albums chart when he releases I’m the Problem. The new studio album will likely be out later this year. So far, he has released a handful of singles from the forthcoming collection and fans are already in love.

He released “Lies, Lies, Lies” last July. Then, he followed that with “Love Somebody” in October. Wallen closed the year with “Smile” on New Year’s Eve. A month later, he released the album’s title track “I’m the Problem.” So far, the four singles have garnered a total of 495,128,963 streams. You read that correctly. He has garnered almost half a billion streams with just four songs. In short, his chart record is going to be hard to break.
