Johnny Vaughan’s dad has sadly died, aged 91, with the presenter announcing the sad news on Instagram today. Sharing a photo of himself and father, Randall, 91, Johnny, 59, paid tribute to his “dearest dad” in a touching post.

Captioning a heartwarming photo of Randall in which a dog can be seen playfully peaking out from under his cardigan, Johnny wrote: “My Dearest Dad has gone and I’m so very sad.”

The presenter then shared a quote which read: “I will find you in the morning sun and when the night is new: I’ll be looking at the moon but I’ll be seeing you.”

Fans and friends flocked to the comments section to send their condolences to Johnny, with the host’s former Big Breakfast co-host, Denise Van Outen, leading the tributes.

Telling her friend she was thinking of him, she replied: “Thinking of you Johnny. Sending you the biggest hug.”

Another Big Breakfast star offering their condolences was Kelly Brook, who wrote: “So sorry to hear this sending you all the love in the world.”

Meanwhile, presenter Lizzie Cundy responded: “So very sorry” as former X Factor host, Kate Thornton added: “So sorry for your loss x.”

Also paying their respects was one of Johnny’s loyal listeners, who wrote: “Sorry for your loss Johnny.

“Almost a year ago I lost my Dad. I messaged you and asked if you could give him a posthumous honorary salute, which you did. So on behalf of myself and all the listeners, to your Dad. We salute you. Rest in peace.”

And another fan said: “So sad to hear this Johnny, most will agree that although we never had the pleasure of meeting him that we felt that we all knew him through your amazing stories.”

Radio presenter, Johnny, usually keeps his family life out of the spotlight, but did offer a sneak peak into his world back in May. Sharing a glimpse into a family holiday to sunny Marrakech with his partner Vanessa and their young son, Johnny shared a string of sweet snaps.

The former Capital Breakfast host took to Instagram to share some heartwarming holiday photos from the bustling city of in Morocco, as he enjoyed quality time with his loved ones.

Johnny, who now fronts The 4til7 Thang on Radio X, isn’t known for flaunting his personal life – but fans were delighted to see the usually private presenter sharing a handful of personal moments from the trip.

He captioned the post: “Marrakech is just over 3 hours away. It’s insane that so different to London is so near. If you want to feel like you’ve ‘abroad’, it offers unbeatable bang for your buck.”
