It was just another busy lunch rush at the Dairy Queen in Cotulla, Texas—until a familiar face rolled up to the drive-thru. The King of Country Music, George Strait casually appeared at the restaurant chain to order his mid-day meal, giving the team behind the window a moment they’ll never forget.
One of the workers, who goes by Becky on TikTok, commemorated this day at work with a selfie she snapped with the legend which was then shared to the social media platform.
“The King George Strait stopped at DQ Today,” Becky wrote on the post that was set to Strait’s “You Look So Good In Love.”

Later reflecting on the chance meeting with Country Now, the she shared that the Texas native ordered a Hunger-Buster combo, which includes the classic Hunger-Buster burger, fries, a drink and a sundae. Strait was instantly recognized by her coworker, and once they confirmed it was really him, she confirmed he was as kind and down-to-earth as you’d expect.
“My coworker is the one that knew it was him. We were like, let’s make sure before we go over to the drive. When he opened the window, he asked ‘George?’ He said ‘yes’ and smiled. I asked him how he was doing and asked him, ‘you stop by here often?’ and he said ‘yes I do.’ We shook hands and then I asked for a selfie and he said ‘of course.’”
Becky went on to say that Strait “didn’t seemed bothered at all” by her and her fellow Dairy Queen workers wanting to shake hands and snap a few photos.

“He was very friendly and very polite…It was an amazing experience to have met him. We got a free meet and greet. He has stopped here before, but I had never been there. I was lucky to have met him that day.”
This just proves that even country legends need a burger and fries to curb their hunger. So while meeting George Strait wasn’t on the employees’ agenda for that day, it’s safe to say it turned into a story they’ll be telling for years.
Strait is currently enjoying some time off the road before embarking on his run of five stadium shows with Chris Stapleton this year. They will be joined by Parker McCollum on the first four dates, beginning Saturday, May 10 in Philadelphia, PA and running through June 21 with tops in Pittsburgh, PA, Buffalo, NY and Foxborough, MA.
For the final date on July 19, Little Big Town will serve as a special guest at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, CA.
