A survivor of the 7/7 bombings in London has recounted the final moments of the killer as he recalled ‘looking him in the face’ just before the explosion

A survivor of the 7/7 bombings in London has recounted the final moments of the killer.
Dan Biddle was 26 when he was caught up in the atrocity in the English capital on July 7 2005 which saw three bombs explode across the underground netwwork Aldgate Station, Edgware Road, between King’s Cross/Russell Square and a fourth one aboard a bus Tavistock Square.
Following the attack, Dan lost his legs and appeared on Wednesday’s edition of Good Morning Britain where he recalled looking the suicide bomber, Mohammad Sidique Khan, in the eye on the tube just before the incident unfolded, and has now revealed why he can never forgive him.

Dan appeared alongside Richard Madeley and Charlotte Hawkins to tell his story
Speaking to hosts Richard Madeley and Charlotte Hawkins, he said: “There’s nothing but hatred and contempt. There can’t be forgiveness for such an act of evil. I really, truly don’t believe that. I think forgiveness is something that you earn. Forgiveness is something that you would be genuinely sorry for what’s happened.
“I believe if he hadn’t have killed himself, he’d have gone on to do it again. And I looked at that man in the face before he detonated that bomb and there was no hesitation.
“There was no, oh my God, am I doing the right thing? It was just, he looked at me and everybody else on that train with a vitriolic hatred and wanted to kill us all. I can’t forgive that!”
In total, 52 people were killed on July 7 2005. It was the UK’s deadliest attack since the Pan-Am Flight in 1988 in Lockerbie, and was followed 12 years later by the attack on Ariana Grande’s concert in Manchester which killed 22 people.
Dan, who also his left eye and spleen in the suicide explosion, runs a business that helps companies attract, employ, retain and progress disabled candidates but is only able to do so because he was receiving 40 hours of support per week from a government grant via Access To Work. The DWP has allowed Dan’s wife Gem to act as his support worker because she is aware of everything that could trigger his PTSD.

Richard was totally in support of Dan and told him to ‘keep in touch’
She is employed to help him cope, and manage the overall daily issues that arise with his mental health, but now the funding has been cut to just 13 hours, which means Dan and his wife have lost 75% of their income. The move has left Dan ‘terrified’, as he explained: “I think that the thing is what’s not been given consideration in my access to work renewal application Is I outlined all of this and I asked that that everybody’s case is individualised
“They’re really kind of their needs are different and I just said this is an extraordinary set of circumstances What happened to me is an extraordinary event.
“It’s not something that we happen daily the long-term effect of it is it’s never going to go away I’m never going be cured of my PTSD. I’ve had really kind stringent counselling and a lot of work going to enabling me to function. But the impact isn’t lessened. I’ve got coping mechanisms that help, but they don’t take it away.
“So without that support, I’m terrified sometimes. It would take me an hour to leave the house. Because in my head, my brain doesn’t process things the way that everybody else’s does!”
Charlotte then explained to viewers that a spokesperson had told the programme in response that they ‘want thevictims and survivors of terror attacks to receive the best possible help to rebuild their lives’ and that Dan’s case will be ‘reviewed on an independent basis’.
Just as the interview drew to a close, Richard told Dan: “In the six or seven minutes here, you’ve just made an open and shutcase. I can’t believe that you won’t get the decision that you need. Let’s stay in touch.“
