The Nolans star Anne Nolan has shared an emotional update just months after she received the all-clear from cancer as she made an appearance on ITV’s Loose Women
Anne Nolan has shared an emotional update after getting the all-clear following her battle with cancer. The Nolans singer, 77, and sister of Loose Women’s Coleen Nolan, has battled breast cancer twice.
Earlier this year, the family lost Linda to the disease, while Bernie died of the same illness in 2013. The I’m In The Mood For Dancer singer made an appearance on Tuesday’s edition of the lunchtime show where she was joined by her sister, as well as Coleen’s fellow panellists Nadia Sawalha and Dame Kelly Home, and anchor Ruth Langsford.
In July, she received the news that is now cancer-free having been first diagnosed in 2000 and then 20 years later, and couldn’t even bring herself to open the confirmation letter when it first arrived.

She said: “You get a mammogram every year when you have breast cancer and then at the end of five years, you have your final mammogram and they tell you then whether it’s gone. I got the letter through the post, and I didn’t open it for about two hours, I was scared it was going to be bad news.
“Then eventually I thought ‘Oh for goodness sake, just be sensible and open it!’ I opened it and it was good news.”
The star, who achieved fame alongside her sisters when they released tracks like Harry My Honolulu Lover and Gotta Pull Myself Together in the late 1980s, burst into tears when she realised she was cancer-free.
But the star noted that there is always a ‘chance’ that the disease could make a return and that is something she just has to learn to come to terms wit.
She said: “I cried. I’d been so pent up about opening the letter and was worried it was going to say I needed to go back but it said they were happy to tell me they’re cancer free.
“Although, they say you’re cancer-free but they also go on to say that this doesn’t mean that it won’t come back. That’s what you live with. There’s always a chance it might come back again.”
Just days after she received the good news, Anne appeared on Good Morning Britain where she shared how she felt about it all, and remembered her sister Linda, who passed away at the beginning of this year after years of battling on and off with cancer.

She said: “I feel lucky, blessed, relieved, and then emotional thinking about my sisters having gone through the same thing but not surviving.” Anne went on to say she thinks her sister Linda would be “looking down and thinking thank goodness” at her health update.
She recalled receiving her diagnosis just one week before Linda’s, and going through their treatment together during the pandemic.
“Linda and I were there to support each other, we had our chemo together, she was the one who called us the chemo sisters, she was always in a good mood, always happy and kept me going, because I had a bad time during my chemo.
“It was great to have her support, and then her cancer spread and she didn’t survive, so when I got my letter to say I was clear of cancer […] I did think about Linda at the time, and Bernie as well.”
