Channel 4’s raunchy and radical new dating show has reportedly been scrapped after only two series. Execs had “high hopes” for the series as it’s team were the brains behind Married At First Sight, but have now pulled the plug.
Love Triangle was the network’s latest dating show and arose from an interest in the polyamorous dating scene. The show emphasised that love is not just reserved for those in a relationship with only one person.
It saw hopeful singles get to know each other via text before choosing someone to date further. But they then found themselves living in a house with not just the person they chose, but also the person they rejected.

Love Triangle UK has reportedly been axed
Brought to E4 by the same creative team behind Married At First Sight Australia, Love Triangle aired for two series before being reportedly scrapped.
Its first series was not very successful but bosses seemed to hope that a second series would lift it off the ground. However, their hopes were not fulfilled, as it still performed poorly.
A TV insider told The Sun: “There were high hopes for the show partly because it came from the Oz Mafs creative team, and there was the hope they would work their magic on this new format.
“It also seemed to tap into a dating zeitgeist based on the idea that true love needn’t be found in a relationship only involving two people. Of course, it was very much a TV experiment, and a bold one at that.”
They added that it was still a “disappointment” for Channel 4 bosses as they failed to get the following they wanted for the show.

A spokesperson for the network told the publication that they had to make some “tough” choices because of how many reality TV “smash hits” there have been this year. The Mirror has reached out to Channel 4 for comment.
Channel 4 is host to a wide range of reality shows, particularly dating shows. Versions of Married At First Sight from Australia, New Zealand and the UK all air on the network, as do First Dates, Celebs Go Dating, and Naked Attraction.
Other networks have their own dating shows. ITV airs Love Island and older singles dating show My Mum Your Dad, while the BBC offers I Kissed A Girl, I Kissed A Boy and Stranded On Honeymoon Island.
They have all had varying levels of success, as have the new reality TV series airing this year, such as Celebrity Traitors, which has become one of the BBC’s most successful shows, and ITV’s celeb show Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters.
