TV star Charlene White has shared the heartbreaking reality of her grief in another candid post following the death of her beloved dad, Denniston.

The Loose Women star, 45, announced earlier this month her father had taken his own life after he was “living with a dark cloud”. Sadly, Charlene also explained she and her family were unaware of the struggles Denniston was facing as “he chose to keep what he was going through to himself”.

After sharing the tragic news, Charlene has opened up to her Instagram followers once again, revealing she and her family have “said a final goodbye to my dad” this week. In the heartbreaking post, she also revealed she may never know why her father took the decision he did.

Sharing several photos on Instagram of her dad throughout his life, including an image of him serving in the RAF, on his wedding day and at Charlene’s Christening, Charlene opened up to fans in the caption.

The TV star wrote: “This week we said a final goodbye to my dad. Two services and a huge wake… hundreds came to celebrate a man who meant so much to so many.

“We’ve spent many many hours asking ourselves why he decided to take his own life, and we’ll no doubt spend many more. But the reality is we may never know, and we have to find a way live alongside that truth. But what we do know is we don’t want others to feel like they have no choice but to succumb to the darkness, nor do we want any other family to be left with the pain, hurt and heartache that we are now living with.”

She also revealed she hopes to raise money for Black Minds Matter, a charity which offers the Black community talking therapy by Black therapists. Charlene explained: “So in lieu of flowers we’re raising money for @blackmindsmatter.uk . A charity that provides culturally appropriate support and talking therapies with, and for, the Black community. There is a link in my bio should you wish to donate.

“We’ve had sessions with the brilliant @suicideandco therapists, and talked about what the new normal is supposed to look like. The reality is, none of us really knows yet. And that’s okay. And we have a village holding us up, and we have each other.”

Charlene then shared her gratitude to those who have offered their support. She ended the message with: “Thank you to everyone who’s reached out, sent their love, and shared their own stories of suicide loss. And to those who’ve dealt with those stories alone and in secret, we send our heartfelt love to you.”

The journalist was flooded with more messages of support from celebrity friends, including Dr Zoe who wrote: “Sending love to you Charlene” and Caroline Hirons who added: “I’m so so sorry for your devastating loss my friend.” Meanwhile Fred Sirieix left a simple red heart emoji.
