Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc has revealed he’s engaged to girlfriend Alexandra Saint Mleux – and their beloved dachshund Leo played a starring role in the proposal.

The 28-year-old Formula 1 driver shared the happy news on Instagram on Sunday with a series of romantic snaps alongside Saint Mleux, 24, who he’s been dating since 2023.

“Mr. & Mrs. Leclerc [ring emoji and three red love heart emojis],” he wrote alongside pictures of the couple embracing and kissing. Leclerc kept details of the proposal under wraps, including when he popped the question and their wedding date.

But the photos hint that Leo, a regular fixture in the F1 paddock, may have helped with the big moment – one snap showed the pup wearing a collar reading “Dad wants to marry you!” Another image captured celebrations complete with cakes and a dog bone treat inscribed with “She said yes!”

French-born social media influencer Saint Mleux first appeared with Leclerc publicly at Paris Fashion Week in March 2023, before the pair attended Wimbledon together four months later.

Among those offering their congratulations were McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, who wrote: “Congrats!”, and Leclerc’s former teammate, Carlos Sainz, who exclaimed: “Yesssss!”.

Leclerc is set to join the ranks of married F1 drivers, alongside Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez, for the 2026 season. Other drivers, such as Fernando Alonso and Valtteri Bottas, have been previously married, while most of the current grid, including Lando Norris and Max Verstappen, are in serious relationships.

Leclerc’s 2025 F1 season has been a rollercoaster ride. Currently fifth in the Drivers’ Standings with 210 points from 20 races, he has finished in the top 10 on 17 occasions and made it to the podium seven times.

He trails Mercedes’ George Russell by 48 points, is 111 behind third-place Verstappen, 146 adrift of Piastri and 147 away from leader Norris with just four races remaining.
