Peter is currently touring the UK with his Better Late Than Never comedy show

Comedy legend Peter Kay has been forced to postpone two upcoming shows after undergoing hospital treatment for kidney stones, sparking concern from fans across the country.

The Better Late Than Never star, 52, had been due to perform at Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena on Sunday October 5 and Monday October 6, but has now pulled out on medical advice.

Peter Kay postpones Nottingham shows after surgery

A statement released by tour promoter SJM Concerts on social media read: “We regret to inform you that due to a routine kidney stone procedure, Peter will be unable to perform his scheduled shows at Nottingham Motorpoint Arena on Sunday, 5th October and Monday, 6th October.

Following medical advice, Peter will be taking a period of time to rest and recover.”

Fans who have tickets needn’t worry, as both shows have been rescheduled.

Sunday’s performance has been moved to Thursday December 11, and Monday’s show will now take place on Friday December 12. All original tickets remain valid for the new dates, and refunds are available for those who can’t attend.

“We thank you for your patience and understanding,” the statement concluded.

Supporters of the Bolton-born comic flooded the comments with well-wishes and sympathy.

“Hope you’re feeling better soon, and now out of pain,” one fan wrote. “I know from a friend they’re debilitating and agony. Go back on tour when you’re good!”

“Get well soon, Peter, wishing you a speedy recovery,” another added.

Comes after the cancellation of his previous tour

Peter’s health scare comes during a historic run of his Better Late Than Never tour, his first live comedy shows in over a decade. Since its launch in 2022, the tour has smashed records. The tour was extended to 2025 due to overwhelming demand.

Kay’s return to the stage in December 2022 marked a long-awaited comeback after cancelling his previous tour in 2017, citing “unforeseen family circumstances”.

He also recently revealed that he’s releasing a new book, Diary: The Monthly Memoir of a Boy from Bolton. The memoir is set to hit shelves on October 9.

Earlier this year, Peter made headlines when he was caught on video ejecting a disruptive heckler during one of his performances.

He halted his act and called on security to remove several individuals, claiming they were disturbing the experience for other fans.

Kay faced backlash after quipping: “Go on, off you go, Lisa Riley,” likening one of the individuals to the former Emmerdale actress.

While Lisa Riley herself publicly confirmed she took no offence, the woman involved slammed Peter. She claimed she had been humiliated by the comedian.

Speaking about the incident on Good Morning Britain, Peter later clarified: “I didn’t realise it was an insult. She did look remarkably like Lisa Riley. I didn’t realise that was an insult.”
