Coronation Street has kicked off a dark new storyline – but fans are not happy and have begged them to leave Sally and Tim Metcalfe alone.

Sally and Tim recently celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary, but with this new storyline, could it be their last?

Coronation Street fans are certainly hoping that isn’t the case and have begged the soap to keep the couple together.

Tim’s dark story in Coronation Street

During Monday’s episode of Coronation Street, Tim picked up a fare from Freshco and he recognised the customer as Trisha Parkinson, now Trisha Marlow, someone he knew in the 1980s.

In the pub later, Trisha made a comment to Tim about always having his number and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Sally’s ex-husband Kevin witnessed the exchange and accused Tim of flirting with another woman on his wedding anniversary.

Tim soon went home and explained the situation to Sally. He also admitted that he and Trisha “had a thing” back in the day. Sally hit the roof and made Tim sleep on the sofa.

Wednesday’s episode saw Trisha turn up at the Cab office – angering Sally further. However, a worrying scene then took place as Tim admitted to Brian that he had been 14 years old when he was with Trisha, while she had been 20.

Upcoming scenes will see Trisha return to the Street again in search of Tim, but Brian will accuse her of grooming a then-teenage boy.

Tim initially defends his relationship with Trisha, but Brian tells him he has to accept that he was groomed. Tim later tells Sally the details of his past with Trisha – and like Brian, she too is shocked by what she learns.

Fans angry over potential Tim and Sally split

Despite the dark nature of Tim’s relationship with Trisha, fans are still concerned that Tim will have an affair or that she could come between Tim and Sally.

“Just a word of warning, I stopped watching EastEnders when they split Alfie and Kat up for the first time, and have not watched it again, so if you split Sally and Tim up the same fate will happen to you,” one fan warned.

A second fan speculated: “Has this random ex of Tim’s been introduced to cause problems in his marriage, leading to Kevin and Sally ultimately getting back together? (I hope not…)”

“I will never watch Corrie again if writers mess Tim and Sally up,” threatened a third fan. While a fourth fan begged: “Leave Tim and Sally alone, they’re great together.”

“This Trisha better not come in between our Sally and Tim,” echoed a fifth fan, with a sixth fan adding: “If Tim cheats on Sally, I am gonna be fuming.”

Another fan wrote: “I’m glad that Tim is getting another storyline but I wish they didn’t bring his ex. I like Tim and Sally‘s relationship.”
