Adil Ray slammed Nigel Farage’s ‘ridiculous’ claims

Good Morning Britain’s Adil Ray has slammed Nigel Farage’s recent claims that swan-eating and Sharia Law in taking place in the UK as “ridiculous and quack-y”.

It comes after the Reform UK leader made the unfounded claim that migrants are killing and eating swans from parks and that Sharia law is “an issue” in London. He was also recently accused of having “no backbone” after refusing to say whether Donald Trump was irresponsible to link paracetamol to autism.

On Good Morning Britain this morning, host Adil asked former Tory special adviser Salma Shah about Reform UK’s high polling results for the next Prime Minister as he lashed out at Farage’s claims. “This is an extraordinary poll and people were asked who would you vote for,” he said.

“And just in recent weeks, Nigel Farage has talked about mass deportations, wasn’t clear enough on whether paracetamol contributed to autism, he then comes out with this bizarre thing that some people are eating swans.

“These are ridiculous things we comes out with. He says that Sharia Law does exist with some people in the country and his evidence is a taxi driver in Buckinghamshire.”

The frustrated presenter went on to ask the exasperated question – “what’s going on?”

“These are quite ridiculous, quack-y things that he’s coming out with, yet he leads the polls. Why is that? What’s going on?” he said.

Salma responded, revealing that she fears being deported despite being born in the UK.

“I think that largely we do give Reform a lot of air time and their scrutiny perhaps isn’t as stringent as it is for others,” she said. “That may be because actually they’re just a parliamentary party of five people so they can’t effect change.

“But they are – as you say – really, really high in he polls and they’re climbing in he polls,” she added. “There has to be that scrutiny. Am I going to be deported under a Reform government? Even though I was born here and hold a British passport.”

Earlier this week, ex Prime Minister Boris Johnson launched a blistering attack on Farage – and called his approach to Russia “extremely dangerous”.

“My concerns, and they are serious concerns, are about the approach to the economy of the Reform Party and the approach on our national security,” he said.
