On Friday’s instalment of Gogglebox Channel 4 viewers saw the beloved armchair critics share their thoughts on the programmes from the last week.

It looks as though Gogglebox viewers were less than impressed during the latest episode of the Channel 4 show.

As the series kicked off, which recently saw one couple make an admission about their pay, the popular faces of the show settled in to share their thoughts on the latest shows from the past week.

One of these included them watching the finale of the new psychological thriller Amazon series, The Girlfriend.

However, as the tense scenes of the show were aired, Gogglebox fans were left reeling that the ending was spoiled for them as they learnt how the series concluded.

Taking to X, someone said: “Thanks for showing us the ending of the Girlfriend, which I was planning to watch tomorrow.” Someone else wrote: “Hadn’t started watching it, was on my watch list.”

One person added: “I was gonna watch The Girlfriend, not much point now.” In agreement, one viewer said: “Just thought that too.”

While another disgruntled person wrote: “Was on my watchlist…” Someone else shared: “Exactly.”

The Girlfriend is a six-part series that follows the tensions between one woman and her son’s new girlfriend, who seems suspicious.

A synopsis for the show reads: “Laura’s picture-perfect life starts to unravel when her son brings home a new girlfriend named Cherry; she becomes convinced that Cherry is a manipulative social climber — or is she just being paranoid.”

It features the likes of Olivia Cooke, Robin Wright, Laurie Davidson, who bring drama and suspense throughout the series.

As the Goggleboxers watched the drama come to a conclusion, they saw the ultimate showdown between Laura and Cherry.

Andrew was not happy with the cliffhanger of the series

When the episode came to an end, newcomer Andrew was left seething at the cliffhanger. He said: “Oh no! You’re having a laugh, I hate endings like that! There has to be another series.”

Meanwhile, Pete said to his sister Sophie: “It makes me laugh this programme because my life is the complete opposite. If anything, it’s me getting ostracised out. It’s not a triangle of you, Paige, and, mum. I’m on the outside!”
