Channel 4’s Gogglebox returned to screens on Friday night for a new series and fans were left shocked to learn one of the new couples were actually married

Gogglebox’s new couple’s age-gap revealed as shocked fans mistake them for ‘dad and son’
A fresh duo on Gogglebox has set tongues wagging after viewers cottoned on to the fact that the pair are actually husband and wife.
The cherished Channel 4 programme made its comeback on Friday evening (September 5) with a sparkling new instalment, launching its 26th series.
Beloved faces such as siblings Ellie and Izzi alongside best pals Jenny and Lee have all returned to offer their verdicts on the newest television offerings. Yet the programme has also welcomed five completely new households.
The fresh couples feature Sara from Yorkshire alongside her daughter-in-law Lara, Scottish mates Jake and Calum, plus mum and dad Andre and Sarah with their daughter Chee hailing from Surrey, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The pair made their debut this week
Audiences were also acquainted with wedded pair Andrew and Alfie from the Cotswolds. Nevertheless, it’s safe to say fans were utterly stunned upon discovering the duo were actually married.
Taking to X regarding 62 year old Andrew and 32 year old Alfie, one viewer commented: “That Cotswold couple look like father and son.”
Another chimed in: “Looks like the father and son are playing to the cameras with the son always having an annoying grin every time he says something.” A third then revealed: “They’re married!”.

Andrew and Alfie live in the Cotswolds
Mirroring these sentiments, someone else penned: “Didn’t know that Andrew and Alfie were married.” A fifth also declared: “At first I thought they were father and son. Now I’m just jealous of the new couple on #gogglebox as I, too, would like an older husband with a house in the Cotswolds.”
One viewer quipped: “44 minutes into the programme and find out they are both married to each other. I thought it was father and son.”

They are one of many new families on the show
Meanwhile, fans were disappointed not to see Scottish duo Roisin Kelly and Joe Kyle back on their telly. Earlier this year, the couple revealed that Channel 4 didn’t invite them back.
The pair made Gogglebox history as the first Scottish couple to join the show in February 2022. Announcing their exit from the Channel 4 programme, Roisin took to TikTok to share the sad news, writing: “After three and a half years of sitting on the sofa channel 4 have decided it’s time for Joe and I to stretch our legs and have not asked us back for season 26.”
