Josie Gibson was left red-faced on This Morning when she accidentally let slip Rylan’s upcoming career news on the ITV show, with singer Anastacia telling her – ‘you’re fired’
Josie Gibson has apologised after accidentally letting slip that co-host Rylan has something in the works with singer Anastacia. The singer stopped by This Morning to chat about her upcoming tour – however, Josie then began talking about news that was brought up in the ad break.
“Have you two – am I allowed to say or not? You just told me something,” she said, looking at Rylan. “Oh sorry, was I not allowed to say what was in the break then?”
Anastacia then joked: “Oh my God, you’re fired.” Rylan then jumped in to clarify: “Me and Anastacia we’ve been friends for a long time, I’m seeing you next weekend at Radio 2 in the Park.
Anastacia joked that Josie was “fired” after letting slip that Rylan and the singer have something in the works
“And that’s what you were gonna say. That we’re just going to be in the same place at the same time. We’re not saying anything except that we’re going to be in the same place in Highlands Park.”
Josie then continued: “I think somebody’s got something spectacular to see if they go there anyway.”
Anastacia teased: “I think it’s going to be a great day and you never know what will happen.”
It’s been a dramatic week for Rylan as he’s filled in for Cat Deeley and Ben Shepherd on This Morning.
The TV presenter took viewers by surprise when he made a plea over immigration during Wednesday’s show. While he said that “migrants saved my mum’s life”, he went onto say that it’s “absolutely insane” that people are coming over on boats.
“And when they get here, it does seem, and I think this is why a lot of Labour voters as well are saying there’s something wrong, it feels like, ‘Welcome, come on in’. That’s the narrative we’re being fed,” he said.
“Here’s the iPad. Here’s the NHS in reception of your hotel. Here’s three meals a day. Here’s a games room in the hotel. Have a lovely time and welcome.”
After facing a backlash online, Rylan took to Instagram to defend his comments. “You can be pro immigration and against illegal routes. You can support trans people and have the utmost respect for women,” he said.
Some criticised Rylan over his “iPads and NHS” comments, with many pointing out that the Home Office does not provide mobile phones and iPads to asylum seekers as they are not considered a basic need.
