Peter Andre has given an emotional update about his mum’s health, as she continues to experience with the devastating effects of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. His mum Thea lives in the Gold Coast, Australia, with Peter’s dad Savvas, and the couple have just celebrated an incredible 70 years of marriage.

But the happy occasion was also tinged with sadness for Peter and the rest of the family, as he exclusively reveals in his weekly new! column that his mum is losing the power of speech. The news comes just weeks after the Mysterious Girl singer admitted his feelings of guilt over living so far away and witnessing his mum’s deterioration caused by the progressive neurological disorders.

Speaking earlier this summer, he said: “It’s absolutely heartbreaking. With a disease like Alzheimer’s it’s so hard, number one, for the person affected, but it’s also heartbreaking for those who love and care for them… I see the decline happening, and I know the feelings of guilt and worry that we, her loved ones, feel. It is so painful for everyone.”

The distance between Peter and his parents, Savvas and Thea, weighs heavily on the popstar

Reflecting on his parents’ 70th wedding anniversary last week, Peter, 52, revealed they received a very special bit of mail congratulating them on their achievement.

“They have received a wonderful letter from the King, and although Mum’s speech is almost non-existent now, I know that her heart will be filled with warmth because of all the love and support. Happy 70th wedding anniversary, Mum and Dad – you are the greatest inspiration to us all.”

Peter posted a montage of photos to his Instagram to mark the occasion as well, including one of the letter from King Charles, addressed to “Mr Savvas and Mrs Theopopisti Andrea”, and another from Samantha Mostyn, the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia.

The letter from King Charles said: “My wife and I are so pleased to hear that you are celebrating your Platinum Wedding Anniversary on 3rd September, 2025. This brings our warmest congratulations and heartfelt good wishes on such a happy occasion”, and was signed by both Charles, 76, and Queen Camilla, 78.

Alongside the throwback snap and letters, Peter captioned the emotional post: “I prayed for this moment. They made it. 70 years of marriage for the most incredible parents. Mum and dad, we love you more than words can describe.

“Please may Jehovah bless you both. Thank you for being such an inspiration. Two of a kind. I am smiling thinking of you. See you both very very soon.”
