Peter Andre has been left feeling conflicted over his thoughts on Lucy Letby, after watching a new Channel 4 documentary, Murder or Mistake, on her this week.
The show examines the case of Letby, a former neonatal nurse, and how she was convicted of murdering seven babies and attempting to murder six others. Admitting he and wife Emily MacDonagh tuned in, Peter says he was feeling “captivated” but confused over the situation.
“Emily and I watched the Lucy Letby documentary Murder Or Mistake the other night and it was fascinating. It’s very interesting to watch something that can make you believe one thing one minute, then fully believe the opposite a minute later,” the dad-of-five wrote in his weekly New! Magazine column.

Peter, who is a dad to children Junior and Princess, from his marriage to Katie Price, and Amelia, Theo and Arabella, who he shares with wife Emily, said the show was a tough watch for him.
He continued: “It was also interesting to see the experts giving their opinions, some of them completely contradicting each other. It’s not often we are both so captivated by a TV show. But at the end of it, you are left realising just how terrible the situation is for all the children who lost their lives and their families.”
Letby was sentenced to a whole life order in court, with the case described by prosecutors as one of the worst serial killing cases in modern UK healthcare. She was arrested after a string of unexplained deaths and sudden collapses of newborns in the neonatal unit at Countess of Chester Hospital, where she worked, between June 2015 and June 2016.
Concerns were raised by medical staff multiple times about the unusually high number of serious incidents within this period. Attention eventually turned to Letby, who was present and caring for these babies at the time of their collapse or death.

A police search of her home following the first arrest in 2018 uncovered evidence of her crimes; including handwritten notes and hospital documents.
Yet, since her conviction, a number of experts, statistics bodies, and a panel have raised serious questions about the safety of the evidence – something which was investigated in the new series.
The show posed the question of whether Letby is “evil” or not, something the prosecution’s expert witness, Dr Dewi Evans, said he has no doubt in his mind that she is. “Is she evil? Yes, she’s evil,” he says in the show.
“And I have no idea why anyone thinks she’s anything but guilty. She’s not innocent… I’m astonished with what her current barrister is doing. It’s absolutely disgraceful.”
However, her barrister Mark McDonald, who also appears on the series, is of the complete opposite opinion. “Our criminal justice system has failed, fundamentally failed,” he insists. “Behind these children are parents that are suffering, and what they will want at the end of the day is the truth.”
