Harry and Meghan’s wedding planning didn’t go smoothly

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding planning sparked upset with Queen Elizabeth II, according to reports.

It has been said that Queen Elizabeth endured a number of irritations when it came to the couple’s expectations for their historic wedding day.

Another issue the late queen allegedly had with Harry and Meghan’s wedding has resurfaced.

Queen’s ‘complaints’ about wedding decision by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

According to the Daily Mail, the then monarch wasn’t very happy with how they were going to treat their venue, the queen’s home, Windsor Castle.

Harry and Meghan said “I do” at St George’s Chapel, a 14th-century chapel on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Allegedly, the queen wasn’t very pleased at all with who Prince Harry and Meghan intended to invite.

Not to mention, Harry’s grandmother wasn’t apparently impressed with how they requested to use the venue.

Sally Bedell Smith, a royal biographer, claimed that Queen Elizabeth II wasn’t happy with the “random” celebrities who were invited to the nuptials.

“But it’s my house – and I’m paying for it,” the author claims Queen Elizabeth stated at the time.

Queen’s ‘frustrations’ over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s guest list

Bedell Smith reportedly told American royal commentator Kinsey Schofield on the Royally Unfiltered show: “Harry and Meghan just disinvited or didn’t invite a whole group of family and cousins. The children of the Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and of the Gloucesters. She [Meghan] and Harry just ‘exed’ them out of the guest list, and they added all these other random people who barely even knew the royal family.

“That was just yet another irritation for the queen.”

Harry and Meghan’s guest list included household names like David Beckham, Victoria Beckham, and George and Amal Clooney.

The pair were also said to have left the queen “very upset” when they went directly to the Archbishop of Canterbury to ask him to marry them in St George’s Chapel in May 2018, rather than asking Elizabeth about her home.

Queen Elizabeth II also reportedly disliked Meghan’s wedding dress choice.

Apparently, she deemed the wedding dress Meghan Markle wore “too white” for a divorcee.

Of course, Meghan didn’t heed the late queen’s thoughts and even wore two white wedding dresses.

William and Harry’s cousin, Maddison May Brudenell, was wowed by Meghan’s rebellious display.

Speaking to the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden, Maddison discussed why she thought Meghan’s unforgettable ensemble was the perfect choice.

She explained: “In the monarch’s view, it was not appropriate for a divorcee getting remarried in church to look quite so flamboyantly virginal. My mother, our late Queen’s goddaughter, had said exactly the same to me, and that other family members would agree.”

Meghan wore a stunning, Givenchy gown with a bateau neckline.

The designer, Clare Waight Keller, described it as: “Not overly feminine, but not really minimal either.”

Clare explained: “We wanted to create a timeless piece that would emphasise the iconic codes of Givenchy throughout its history. As well as convey modernity through sleek lines and sharp cuts.”
