Amy Blanc Lacy, a script supervisor on the hit show The Walking Dead has died after a speeding driver allegedly hit her car in a hit-and-run and fled the scene

Amy Blanc Lacy, a script supervisor known for her work on The Walking Dead and Halt and Catch Fire, has died after a high-speed hit-and-run crash in Atlanta on September 1, according to police.

Lacy, 62, was sitting in the back seat of her son Oliver Lacy’s car when 31-year-old Buck Rollins allegedly collided with their vehicle at 91 mph in a 45 mph zone.

The Atlanta Police Department said Rollins lost control of his car, drove over a curb, and launched his vehicle into Lacy’s car. Lacy sustained critical injuries and was hospitalised in a coma, ultimately dying four days later. Her sons, Oliver, 23, who was driving, and Adrian, 25, were also hospitalised following the crash.

An arrest affidavit obtained by People details that Rollins fled the scene and was captured on video removing his golf clubs and “walking away casually from the scene of the accident.”

Rollins allegedly told police he had been golfing prior to the crash and did not know why he left, claiming he suffered a seizure and walked home.

However, investigators discovered data from the airbag control modules indicating Rollins removed his foot from the accelerator and began braking 2.5 seconds before impact, “calling into question his claim of having a seizure during the course of this accident.”

Rollins turned himself in to authorities and has been charged with first-degree homicide by vehicle, hit and run, reckless driving, and speeding. Jail records show he was released on a $70,000 bond.

Witness Stacey Elgin told Fox 5 she saw the crash and attempted to intervene. “I did a U-turn and went back. And at that point, that’s when I see this car fleeing. I did follow the car because this person obviously caused a terrible wreck… trying to get out of the situation,” she said.

Lacy was widely respected in the film and television community for her meticulous work.

Actor Khary Payton, who played King Ezekiel on The Walking Dead, shared a tribute on Instagram: “Amy. You’ve always been an angel. I’ll be looking for you in all the little beautiful things. Love and miss you.”

Director Erin Lee Carr described her as a “bright light” on set, noting that Lacy “brought her meticulous eye and fierce heart to projects.”

A GoFundMe has been launched to assist with funeral expenses and support Lacy’s family.

The fundraiser reads: “Amy Lacy was a radiant and beautiful presence in the Film Community, touching the lives of so many.

“Amy raised three wonderful children, filling their lives with joy, laughter and dance. Amy, your spirit will forever illuminate our lives, and you will continue to dance in our hearts.”
